About the role

This is a diverse position, you will be a corporate parent and a positive role model, helping fulfil the needs of the child and improve their lives. When you start your shift, you will receive a hand over and start your daily tasks. You could be taking the children out to the cinema, shopping, to the Zoo or you could be spending the day within the home, educating and enhancing life skills.

You will be required to complete relevant paperwork, household chores and chaperone the children on appointments and other activities. There will be occasions where you may have to administrate medication and maintain the children’s personal care.

We ensure our staff are fully trained for any situation. Therefore you will receive an induction, followed by shadow shifts and regular supervisions. Also, because you will be faced with challenging behaviour, you will be fully trained in Protecting Rights In a Caring Environment (PRICE) a de-escalation and physical intervention training course.

The salary is a base rate of £21,320 worked out at a 40 hour week at £9.25 per hour and an average of one sleep in per week (£52) plus an additional £3,120 as an average expected overtime of 25 hours per month at £9.25 per hour. This is an estimate, and the overtime hours will vary to meet the needs of the home.

The successful candidate will have, or be working towards an NVQ Level 3 or level 3 Diploma specific to Residential Care.

Essential Requirements

NVQ3/QCF3 Working with Children and Young People's Workforce
Relevant experience of working with children and young people/challenging behaviours.
The experience of working within a children’s residential setting.
To be willing to participate in training to support the needs of the service
Residential Child Care experience (not nursery or early years)
Full UK Driving Licence
Flexibility for shift work (weekdays, weekends and sleeps)
